Microsoft started to offer free copies of Office 2011 for Mac for anyone that bought office starting on Aug 1.

Basically, if you buy this piece of crap after Aug 1 and register on the link posted above, you will receive Office 2011 when it is available. Sounds cool.

Like a good brazilian that pays for software and don’t bittorrent it (i’m a exception, nobody I know uses a original retail copy, everyone pirates it!), I rushed to the near Fnac store and bought the home edition expecting my free update. (Fnac = Authorized reseller)

Who dislikes free updates? I don’t, because I paid for it and the ad clearly says “Buy Office 2008 and Get Office 2011″.
Registered on the site, grabbed my camera and took a picture. I lost the picture somewhere in my network, when I find it, this post will be updated.
In the picture: The Box with the DVD off, the receipt with my credit card number, date of purchase, value and the obligatory Three-Months warranty (It’s a law here, every product bought has 90 days for exchange in case of defects), three serial keys, two E-mail address I use,  my customer number and a sign “Thanks for the great offer!”.

One day later, I went back to the page and saw this:

WHAT WHY?

I called Microsoft (Spent like R$90,00 with the international call) asking what the heck happened, and the indian guy on the phone said: “This is not valid for Brazil“.

WHAT THE FUCK?

So, I bought the thing just to get the 2011 edition, and I was rejected because I live in Brazil? I paid for the stuff like everyone else, I’m a customer like everyone else (I don’t live in the jungles, I don’t play with Blanka and I has Macs and optical-fiber internets).

Thats what we get when we pay for LEGIT stuff, a big NO in the freaking face. Thats why nobody pays for software in this country, it’s expensive and developers don’t give a fuck about us (Office 2008 DON’T HAVE PORTUGUESE INTERFACE). Thats why everybody uses Pirated Windows and Office everywhere. Thats why we can’t have nice things here.

I sent this to microsoft, in the same place used to send the receipt.

Guess what? No Answer.

So I fixed the ad and sent my fixed version back using the contactUs form:

No answer again.
